Our candidates

Canberra Community Voters is not your conventional political party. It is an alliance of independent thinkers.

One of our founders, who is also a candidate, ran election campaigns for Bob Hawke. Another was once a federal candidate for the Australian Democrats. Our candidates include a rocket scientist who twice stood for Labor at ACT Legislative Assembly elections. Another was at the opposite end of the political spectrum as a Liberal and there’s a former bipartisan Mayor along with a Canberra AFL football legend.

What unites us is a belief in honest, open government where different opinions are listened to with respect and decisions are made not on ideology, nor on the wants of donors, nor on fashion, but on a considered evaluation of the evidence of what is best for our city.
