Media Release, Tuesday 11th October 2016
Canberra Community Voters Party lead candidate for Ginninderra, Geoff Kettle, says that the opinion piece written by Raiders Group General Manager, Simon Hawkins, further justifies the need for an integrity and anti corruption commission in the ACT.
“This account from Mr Hawkins further exposes the secret deals that may have gone on within this government and it further amplifies the need for the immediate establishment of an Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).’ Mr Kettle said.
“As if the Auditor General’s report into the Land Development Agency isn’t bad enough, now it appears that the Government has played favourites with the owners of the Casino, potentially giving a $100 million windfall to a foreign investor.”
“This favouritism must stop now!”
“The only way to do this is to put me into the Assembly to create a strong cross bench. This will give me the ability to scrutinise all proposed government legislation and the creation of an ICAC will provide a vehicle for ‘smelly’ transactions to be investigated and prosecuted.” Mr Kettle concluded.
